Dr. Leib at Foot First Podiatry is now treating toenail fungus with laser technology.

HOW IT WORKS

By targeting the fungus, the laser gets to the source of the problem immediately. Tiny pulses of light from the laser pass through the toenail to the fungus underneath, hitting the nail bed and matrix where the nail grows out from. The fungus is irradiated without any damage to the surrounding nail or skin. Our treatment plan includes 3 visits with treatments taking approximately 15-30 minutes. Most people feel a slight warming during the procedure. You may resume all normal activities after treatment and as your nails grow out, new clear nail growth appears at the base of the nail. Laser technology is safe and effective. No more home remedies that never seem to work.No concern about liver damage that can result from the use of oral antifungals.

WHY TOENAIL FUNGUS

Toenail fungus often occurs in adults and can be contracted in many different ways including pedicures by others, nail injuries, or even wearing closed in footwear which allows fungus to grow. However contracted, usually you will notice brittleness, discoloration, and thickening of the nail including change of shape. If left untreated it can permanently damage the nail and spread to surrounding nails and skin.

Over the counter creams, ointments, and solutions have a low effectiveness rate. Oral medicines for toenail fungus need about 2-3 months to treat this condition and are only successful in about 50% of the patients. Oral medicines can have harmful side effects, including damage to your liver.
